Grand Island, Nebraska
We are part way through with our journey to Utah from Kansas City. 12 more hours to go!

So we are going to be moving this summer. And not to Detroit. We will be at least 20 minutes outside of Detroit.
For my third and fourth year, I have to do clinical rotations at a hospital or with doctors in their private practices. We wanted to stay in KC, our first choice, but we didn't match. We didn't even match to our second choice, Palm Beach (which I am super sad about. I totally would have appreciated a year by the beach.) Nope, we matched to my third choice, Madison Heights, MI. The whole match process is a bit like a lottery, and similar to the residency match.
I don't even know why I picked Michigan. Something must have been drawing me there...
We won't be moving for a while (8 months), so we will make the most of our time in our cheap, cheap house ($381/month. Sob.) and hope to find a nice, inexpensive home to rent in Michigan.
I promised to get Eliza a new pair of Uggs when we go. So she's excited.

Jack visits Santa!
Black Friday!
We're ready!
One more week! Chuck will be done with his semester in one week. I can't believe how ready for this I am. Chuck only saw Jack for about 5 minutes yesterday. I have zero motivation to get anything done but laundry is starting to pile up and I think I'd better start on that today. Ugh.

Not feeling well...
Jack isn't feeling well. He's been lazy all day, and is having a hard time breathing. We gave him a bath and swabbed on some vapo-rub, hoping that will help. His humidifier is going full speed, too. Right now he is happily watching Up in Mom and Dad's bed until bedtime.
Symptoms of the Swine flu vaccine? We hope not, since we both got it too!

Happy Halloween!
My sweet mother bought Jack three different costumes. Come Halloween none of them fit. We ended up borrowing this pumpkin costume from a neighbor. I thought he still looked pretty cute. We had a ward Halloween party that was pretty fun. We decided not to take Jack trunk-or-treating because we knew we'd end up eating all the candy ourselves. Somehow he managed to figure out what he was supposed to do on his own because he kept showing up with candy in his hands. Taking candy away from this kid is terrifying. Who ever came up with the expression "stealing candy from a baby," has clearly never tried it.

Home pics
I never thought the day would come when Jack would be old enough to scribble on the walls. Carlie, I'm sorry for laughing at Max when he wrote over your entire living room with green marker.... and for laughing at Halle when she colored her whole body purple.
Jack and his kitty Vincent.I love when he'll wear hats.
Keep looking I posted 2 other posts today.

Random Pics
It's been awhile since I've posted any new pictures so I decided it's about time. Chuck made me this cake for my birthday last month. It was soooo good. Chocolate cake with hazelnut toffee mixed into a mascapone frosting. I'm definitely requesting it again next year. For dinner he made an unusual but delicious carbonara. It's my husband so domestic.

Time for pie
So, some of you might know I've been obsessed with all things cooking the past 6 months or so. Maybe longer. Before I continue, let me clarify one very important point here. I am not saying I'm any good, or have any amazing recipes or anything like that. Ok, now that that is cleared up I can continue. Anyway, now that I'm actually trying to be a home cook there are a few recipes I feel like it's time I attempt. First one on the list is pie. For a long time I thought I hated pie so as a result I never tried making one. I recently realized I love pie and feel cheated for missing out on so many Thanksgiving desserts. So this week I'm going to attempt my first pie. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little scared. Chuck has been wanting pie to I think. We went to T.J. Maxx recently and he picked out a very cute pie dish. By the way, if y'all aren't looking at T.J.'s for cooking stuff you're missing out. If anyone has an amazing pie recipe for me let me know. Next up, roasts.

Quote of the day
Context: Chuck and I while watching a holocaust movie.
Chuck: Who did the Germans think they were. I can only name like 5 great people that came out of Germany.
Eliza: ...and is one of them Heidi Klum.
Chuck laughs because after Einstein he was totally gonna say Heidi Klum.

Update
The post says "Update" but there really isn't a whole lot to report. Jack still isn't talking much. We've taken his binkie away and he's finally getting over it. Chuck has finals this week and has been working really hard at studying. I'm growing basil. I'm teaching the young women how to make balloon animals this week for mutual. And that's about it. Here's some funny pictures of Jack to keep you all satisfied.
Now, the next three pictures are out of sequence, but basically this was Jack stealing food off the table. I omitted the pictures of him eating off of the ground...so you wouldn't think I am a bad mother.
Jack wanted to play doctor after dad listened to his heart.
Crack.
Jack loves diapers on the head, not on the bum so much.
It was clean don't worry.
